Having announced iPad 2, Apple company, by a good tradition, has represented also a branded case for it, called Smart Cover. Though, it’s not a usual accessory of such kind and it can’t be called a full-fledged case, rather a protection for display, and the back panel of the pad remains open. It is made of practical aluminum, and it’s hard but possible to scratch it, at that by accident. Any grit can be found on a table and leave its track on iPad 2. Besides, the black apple is made of plastic, so it is scratched very simply. For people wishing to protect a new pad in a more traditional way, iKit company has offered its own solution — iPad 2 Carbon Case.
The case is interesting, above all, by combination of materials. In the centre of the case there is an insert made of polycarbonate with a carbon-like texture, and its base is made of rubber. Such design makes iPad 2 Carbon Case practical and attractive outwardly. The case provides improved grip of pad, its protection not only from scratches, but also from accidental bumps.

iPad 2 Carbon Case is quite an interesting solution, but it will obviously add to the weight of the pad and enlarge its dimensions, though it is unlikely that iPad 2 in this case will be heavier and bigger than the original iPad. The carbon cases look very attractive and powerful in black. They look sporty so, I think these would fit the ipad on a slight rough outdoor environment to protect it from scratches.
